NIIT pioneered IT education and training in India in 1982. Over the years NIIT has developed a range of curricula for people with diverse requirements - from students seeking careers in computers to IT professionals needing advanced training; from business managers seeking a competitive edge to housewives wanting to be computer literate.

With a view to build a distinct brand identity and to give the most appropriate programs to different market segments, the entire education offerings from NIIT India are divided into three separate brands - Futurz, CATS and SWIFT.

Under Futurz, NIIT offers to students a series of e-Commerce programs including the 4-year comprehensive iGNIIT program. NIIT's flagship program, iGNIIT, is the only IT curriculum that offers one year's industry training through Professional Practice (PP). In the final year of the iGNIIT program, students are placed in organisations to gain a year's invaluable work experience.

NIIT conducts surveys with top industry executives to understand their requirements and broaden its course content. NIIT, thus, introduced e-Commerce Computing, Technology Edge, Quality Management and Personal Effectiveness into its iGNIIT curriculum. The broad-based iGNIIT program comes with a 7-year bank loan that covers the expenses of the program, a multimedia PC with Internet access and a printer. The iGNIIT curriculum is woven around Microsoft technologies giving the student the advantage of simultaneously preparing for Microsoft Certifications.

NIIT's Curriculum for Advanced Technology Studies (CATS) exposes IT professionals to the latest technologies, helping them to upgrade their skills and stay ahead of the competition. CATS opens the window to the freshest and state-of-the-art technologies in the software arena-Microsoft, Oracle, CA or Red Hat--across the breadth of the Indian professional community.

NIIT has taken a major initiative to demystify computers for people from all walks of life, whether they are housewives or businessmen, lawyers or doctors, government employees or retired professionals. Called SWIFT India, it provides simple and affordable solutions for people who are just fed up with being intimidated by computers. SWIFT India is a nationwide initiative from NIIT to build a computer-literate India.

NIIT thus offers a diversity of curricula catering to a broad range of education and training requirements.Courses at NIIT

NIIT has also brought multimedia technology and education together for the first time in India. It has developed a unique approach to learning through multimedia called 'Learning through Exploration, Discovery and Adventure' or LEDA. Apart from school curricula, the LEDA programs address the overall development of a child's personality and skills. NIIT has set up a network of around 100 LEDA Family Clubs-- centres for the entire family to use computer-based facilities for learning.

Over the last 18 years, NIIT has studied the various modes of learning that people are comfortable with. Some of us are comfortable with the traditional instructor-led training. Some prefer self learning either through computer based tutorials or through the Web, with support services from the invisible tutor !! And yet some us are most comfortable with the best of both worlds…better known as hybrid ! NIIT has made rich inroads into all Modes of learning.
