| Microsoft Sets Up New Facility |

Monday, July 16: Microsoft Corporation India Pvt Ltd has
inaugurated its first Executive Briefing Centre (EBC) for the APAC region in
Hyderabad.
The EBC is based in the Microsoft Campus and located along with India
Development Centre (IDC) and the Global Delivery Centre India (GDCI). It will
provide customers and partners the opportunity to engage with Microsoft
leadership team, and technical talent available in these centres on business and
IT issues. The Centre t will enable them to gain an insight into Microsoft's
vision for technology over the next few years, especially within the context of
their own industry trends.
The Centre was inaugurated by S Ramadorai, CEO & MD, TCS, in the presence of
Rama Raju, MD, Satyam Computer Services and WillPoole, Senior Vice President,
Windows Client Business, Microsoft Corporation.

| TCS To Soon Launch Next Gen Smart Cards |

Monday, July 9: Tata Consultancy Services, the leading IT
software services and solutions major, will roll out indigenously designed next
generation smart cards in the next six to eight months.
The Embedded Systems Group in the Bangalore center is working on designing the
chip needed for smart cards based on cryptographic algorithms, while
manufacturing would take place in Taiwan.
The eSecurity group, R&D division of TCS carries out work in several areas
related to secure communication, encryption and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
technology. TCS is a licensed Certifying Authority (CA), licensed and authorized
by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA), Government of India, to issue
legally valid digital certificates under the Indian Act, 2000.

| IBM India Unveils Initiatives for UNIX Market |

Monday, July 02: India has rolled out a series of
initiatives in an effort to increase its presence in the UNIX marketplace. The
company is betting heavily on its Power5 based servers which, it claims,
delivers increased speeds of running applications with a relatively fewer number
of processors, compared to Sun and HP servers.
According to IBM, its eServer p5 systems with its Power5 processors represent a
new era in UNIX computing and have features such as IBM Virtualisation Engine
which enables a microprocesser to be split virtually so that optimum use is
derived.

TCS In a Tie-Up With US Based QAD

Monday, June 25: In a bid to tap the huge manufacturing
clients space, across the world, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has entered
into an alliance with the California-based QAD Inc.
Both the firms will offer QAD's flagship software for enterprises — MFG/PRO —to
manufacturing companies. Apart from this, QAD consultants will offer their
services in six manufacturing sectors the company serves and provide local
business and regulatory requirements to the customers of both the companies, QAD
said.
The companies will also collaborate with the customers on system design and
implementation in an attempt to streamline their manufacturing operations from
back office to supply chain.
Under the partnership agreement, TCS will build a center of excellence in Pune
for QAD-based solutions to cater to its global clientele. However, the company
did not reveal the investment figures. QAD had appointed a senior executive to
nurture the relationship between the two companies.

MS To Promote Reach Across India

Monday, June 18: Microsoft has drawn aggressive plans to
increase the reach of its hardware products across India in the next 12 months.
"Under the pan-India 'Project Vistaar' the company will increase its retail
presence from 6,300 outlets to 10,000 outlets in next 12 months," Mohit Anand,
Manager of Home and Entertainment Division of Microsoft, said.
Most of these outlets would come up in cities and towns where it has a limited
presence.
In all, the company will have presence in eight cities each in North and South
India, six cities in West and four in the East.
So far, Microsoft Home and Entertainment Division has a presence in 52 cities
through its channel partners.
Microsoft has emerged as one of the top three vendors of keyboards and mice in
India.
Microsoft also announced roll out of its Pan-Asia Home and Entertainment
Division Retail Centre Programme in India to improve the overall retail channel
support to its channel partners. Under the programme, the company would rate its
partners based on their level of engagement with the company.
